DJ Dekalb was started because Gary had “always wanted” to try his hand at it.  When he volunteered to do a family wedding, he found out just how tough, and just how much fun it is!

 

Starting with some cheap equipment and a song list of 3500 titles from their personal collection, Gary and Debbie did their first wedding reception in Dekalb, IL in December of 2001.  Starting with that very first reception, the reviews were terrific (see our testimonials page).  But, Gary learned in a hurry:  we need better equipment and more music!

 

So, that’s what we did.  We now have top-notch equipment and a song list 12,700 titles strong (and growing).  We also bring an excellent set of dance floor lights — one of the best shows you’ll ever see at a reception!

 

We view the wedding reception as two events that flow together:  the formal dinner and the dance party.  Our mission is to provide the atmosphere of dignity that the formal events deserve, and to follow that with a great, fun dance party.
